Clip-Vent™
Frequently Asked Questions

1. Why would I use Clip-Vent instead of standard vent chutes?

Use Clip-Vent when you want to achieve higher performance from batt insulation and superior air flow from soffit to ridge. Clip-Vent also gives you the option of having a vented roof in spray foam applications.

2. How does Clip-Vent increase air flow?

Clip-Vent provides a continuous air channel across the rafter bay, creating greater air flow and a superior cold roof. Clip-Vent will not crush or collapse like standard vent chutes constricting air flow.

3. How does Clip-Vent raise r-values?

Clip-Vent seals tightly against rafters and wind-stop blocking to virtually eliminate r-value robbing air infiltration. Clip-Vent also attaches directly to any 1” thick rigid foam insulation board, thereby increasing r-value.

4. When is Clip-Vent installed?

Clip-Vent can be installed from the exterior before roof sheathing is installed or from the inside before insulation is installed.

5. How much do I need to order?

For 16” o.c. framing you will need approx. 40 clips per 100 sq. ft. for 24” o.c. framing you will need approx. 25 clips per 100 sq. ft. Vent-Clip is used anywhere the roof deck is insulated or where standard vent chutes would be used. For complex roof designs more Clip-Vent will be used.

6. What tools do I need to install Clip-Vent?

Installation requires just a few simple tools: tape measure, metal snips, utility knife, hand saw and a staple gun.Recommended, but not necessary, a table saw can be used to rip the foam board to width.

7. What other items do I need to use for a complete installation?

It is recommended to use spray foam to seal the wind-stop blocking. A bead of caulk ( optional ) can also be applied between the lower Clip-Vent flange and the rafter and between foam butt joints if a tighter seal is needed.

8. What is Clip-Vent made from?

Clip-Vent is made from a copolymer polypropylene material that will withstand temperature extremes found in attics. Clip-Vent was designed to resist cracking in the cold from impact and deformation in high temperatures. Clip-Vent is proudly made in the USA.
